John Petrowski

John Petrowski is owner and president of Maryland Health Plans, a health and dental insurance agency in Maryland. He is also president of the IHIAA (Independent Health Insurance Agent Association). He owns the Agent Navigators, a website designed to be a training ground for insurance agents.

A single mother of 3 children offered her services to John Petrowski in reply to an ad for a telemarketer. She was accepted and made to sign a contract of employment. She agreed on an hourly pay of $12 to be given to her on a weekly basis, every Friday. There was also an agreement for bonuses, depending on her productivity. She worked diligently as a telemarketer, and she was so inspired.

John Petrowski paid her salaries the first 3 weeks, and then stopped. The single mother needed the money to support her three children, so she asked her employer for her salary. What she was told was that her pay was put in the mail, but it got lost. Then he promised to give it to her personally as soon as he can, but he never got to that point. The poor employee continued to work hoping that she will still get her salary. She was at that time anticipating that she can get it in lump sum payment. She never thought that after three weeks, no other payment will be given to her.

A few weeks had passed and no payment came to her. So the single mother stopped working, but continued to follow up her salaries and bonuses that accumulated to over $300. She was given many reasons such as the ongoing divorce with his wife made him broke, or the IRS had his account frozen, so he did not have the money to pay for her salaries yet. She found out later upon speaking with the other complaining employees that these were the same reasons given by John Petrowski to his other telemarketers.

The former employee confirmed then that the man just did not want to pay for her services. He only gave promises after promises that he did not fulfill, because he did not have the intention to do so. She was counting so much on her salaries because she is the only breadwinner and she needs the money very badly. She wants to take this man to court, to get back the money that legally belongs to her. The mother is presently making consultations with an attorney to get advice on the legal procedure that she should take.

John Petrowski has robbed his employees of their services. He made them work with promises of pay but did not fulfill his part of the employment contract. The former employee is calling out for his other victims to make representations and don’t let this man get away with his bad ways of making money. And her advice to people who would like to work for him: stay away from this person. He is a liar, and will not face up his obligations.
